Who We Are

Denise Christopher, Board President & Executive Director 
Denise K. Christopher is an experienced executive with a strong background in management and fiscal oversight. With a BA in Business Management, she has demonstrated her ability to lead diverse teams of professionals. Denise has the ability to successfully analyze an organization’s financial and operational deficiencies, and she has a proven track record of recognizing potential growth opportunities. She has developed innovative, cost-effective solutions to enhance day-to-day operations — skills that are critical to the successful leadership of Project L.I.F.E. Ms. Christopher is a Denver native who knows her community, and she has developed business relationships in the Clayton Neighborhood district and the entire Denver metropolitan area. Her business success has been chronicled in numerous publications including the “Denver Business Journal” and “Black Enterprise Wealth For Life”. Ms. Christopher’s outstanding business accomplishments have made her determined to "pay it forward" to others in her community who are in need.

Angie Phetteplace, CPA, CFP, Board Treasurer
Angie Phetteplace grew up in beautiful Colorado and is raising four adventuresome kids with her outdoor enthusiast husband, Lyle Phetteplace. Angie has been a practicing CPA (Certified Public Accountant) for the past 12 years and a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) for the past 5 years with Noven & Associates, PC and Noven Financial Group, Inc. She is currently a 50% partner in Noven & Associates, PC. Angie enjoys working with both for profit and non-profit entities. In addition to her work as Project L.I.F.E. Treasurer, her non-profit endeavors include: working with EPIC Experience (providing free week-long outdoor adventure camps for adult cancer survivors and thrivers); serving as the Community Service Chair for the DTC Rotary Found, an organization that works with local and international groups to provide clean water, food and education to those in need; various small community projects.

Letitia Horace, Board Director
Letitia Horace is the Director of Operations for Habitat for Humanity of Colorado. She has spent more than half her professional career working with organizations that provide safe, decent affordable housing. Letitia has managed multi-million dollar operational and departmental budgets and real estate portfolios, which include residential and commercial properties. She is a graduate of the highly selective Real Estate Diversity Initiative program hosted by Urban Land Institute in partnership with the City & County of Denver’s Office of Economic Development. This Texas native holds a Political Science degree from Texas A&M University - Commerce and is a board member of the Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation.

Jyona L. Slay, Board Director & Community Leader
Jyona Slay has a BA in Human Development from Metropolitan State University of Denver. A native of Denver, Colorado she currently resides in the inner-city Clayton neighborhood. She also sees the devastation of poverty first hand and has committed to help become part of the change and make a difference through Project L.I.F.E.
